Breaking News

If you watch CNN and your attention is captured by “breaking news”, here is the latest but you won’t see or hear it on CNN. Not yet, anyway. A number of states are seriously considering passing a resolution to impeach both Bush and Cheney and to send that petition to the House of Representatives to begin the proceedings. According to the House Rules all it takes is one state to petition Congress and one representative to accept receipt of the petition, then impeachment begins. The state that may be the first to do this is New Mexico which has the strongest popular backing.

A number of states have introduced resolutions to impeach but have not as yet passed them. Many cities have actually passed resolutions already but they cannot petition Congress.

There appears to be a growing popular movement to impeach and as long as the President continues to nullify the laws of Congress with his “signing statements” the movement to impeach will grow even stronger. In addition the Iraq war has been so successful that Bush is seriously considering starting a war with Iran and Syria without Congressional approval. He has tossed into the waste basket the Baker-Hamilton study that certainly offered a series of proposals that had a better chance of success than Bush’s “troop surge”.

Well it has been unusually cold in Albuquerque this winter but it has not cooled off the popular movement against Bush.
